On September 25, 2025, PIRL Director Stefanie DeLuca presented a lecture for the international nonprofit Social Science Research Council (SSRC) titled “Creating Moves to Opportunity: Mixed Methods Evidence on Barriers to Neighborhood Choice.” In the lecture, DeLuca explains the “why” behind the issue of low-income families residing in neighborhoods with fewer opportunities to get ahead, despite having access to housing vouchers that would allow them to move to neighborhoods with more potential for upward mobility, by discussing the findings and conclusions of two randomized intervention studies.
