Aghairza Mammadov

Aghairza is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Poverty and Inequality Research Lab (PIRL), where he works on the Alternative Credentials project.
Aghairza's work focuses on understanding the landscape of non-degree credentials, how people navigate alternative education and training pathways, and how these credentials relate to education, employment, and career mobility.
Aghairza earned his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of South Florida and also holds master's and bachelor's degrees in Economics. His broader research interests are in labor economics, migration, gender, and education. His doctoral research examined how changes in work arrangements, particularly the growth of remote work, affect migration decisions and labor market outcomes. Before beginning his Ph.D., he worked in economic research and credit policy roles at government agencies in Azerbaijan.
In his free time, Aghairza enjoys cooking and listening to podcasts on philosophy and related topics.
