Emma Flanagan
Post-Doctoral Research Fellow
Emma is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow. She graduated from University of Wisconsin - Madison with a Ph.D. in Human Ecology.
Emma is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at PIRL, where she works on the HAIL project, a study on students' decision-making after high school, and the Alternative Credentials project, which explores human capital development through non-degree credential attainment across the life course. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she studied Human Ecology with a focus in Human Development and Family Studies. During her doctoral program, she worked on the Baby's First Years: Mothers' Voices qualitative study, a project in which researchers interview mothers who have limited incomes and participated in the Baby's First Years cash transfer experiment. Emma brings a strong passion for qualitative research to her role at PIRL.
Prior to graduate school, Emma earned a bachelor's degree in Psychology and served as an AmeriCorps member in Missoula, Montana. She has also worked with applied research and policy organizations, such as the Urban Institute and the Wisconsin Department of Health.
In her free time, she enjoys camping, biking, hiking, crafting, and spending time with her loved ones.
