Kate Daugherty

Prior to PIRL, Kate worked at the University of Chicago Crime Lab as a Data Project Associate. Kate graduated from Princeton University with a degree in Sociology and a minor in Statistics and Machine learning. At PIRL, Kate analyzes quantitative data and life-story interviews to better understand how social networks and social capital affect life trajectories, particularly with regard to economic mobility. In her independent work, she has researched and written about firearm ownership and regulations, gun violence, and judicial decision-making in bail setting. In her free time, she enjoys reading, hiking, and playing board games.
