Sydney is a pre-doctoral research fellow in Sociology at The Johns Hopkins University.
Academic Background
Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, Sydney graduated summa cum laude from The Ohio State University in 2023 with a BS in sociology and a minor in computer science. As an undergraduate, Sydney was the Director of Operations of an overdose prevention nonprofit and studied emerging drug trends as an NIH Research Fellow. Stemming from her experiences in overdose prevention, Sydney hopes to orient her research career towards urban sociology, poverty, and other social determinants of health. She is also interested in public sociology and has shared the wonders of social science through a TEDx talk and her own podcast. Outside of work, Sydney loves to crochet, cook, and explore new cities.
