Kiana Boroumand
Kiana Boroumand graduated from the Johns Hopkins University in December 2019 with a B.A. in Sociology and English Literature and a minor in Latin American Studies.
Kiana Boroumand graduated from the Johns Hopkins University in December 2019 with a B.A. in Sociology and English Literature and a minor in Latin American Studies. For her honors thesis in sociology, she studied social welfare in the Nordic countries and conducted her fieldwork over two summers in Iceland and Denmark. She presented her research on the Nordic welfare states at the 2019 American Sociological Association Annual Conference. At Hopkins, Kiana was the founder and Editor-in-Chief of the Johns Hopkins Undergraduate Law Review, Editor-in-Chief of Américas: The Johns Hopkins Journal of Latin American Studies, Executive Director of the Foreign Affairs Symposium, and a senator in the Student Government Association. Kiana has also volunteered with the Refugee Youth Project and interned with Peace Brigades International. At PIRL, her work has focused on housing mobility. Outside of work, she enjoys writing, traveling, and trying new restaurants.
