Sandy Monter Casio
Sandy Monter Casio is an undergraduate student at Johns Hopkins University studying Sociology and Africana Studies with a minor in Writing Seminars.
Sandy is an undergraduate research assistant at PIRL and part of the Hopkins class of 2026. Outside of PIRL, she is a First-Year Mentor for incoming freshmen, a member of the Critical Diasporic Studies Initiative, an Advising Fellow for the Matriculate organization, an Administrative Assistant for the Hopkins Food Pantry, the Events Coordinator for Hopkins Votes, and the Campus Outreach Chair for the Phi Mu Fraternity. Recently, she received the Dean’s ASPIRE Grant to pursue an independent oral history research project about Latinx student mobilization.
In her spare time, she enjoys discovering new music, exploring the Baltimore food scene, updating her poetry blog, and second-hand shopping.
Research Interests: Socio-spatial inequality, housing policy, postsecondary decision-making, interracial solidarity
