Victórya Leal Altmayer is an undergraduate student at Johns Hopkins University studying Economics and Moral & Political Economy.
Victórya Leal is an undergraduate student pursuing a double major in Economics and Moral & Political Economy. Her academic interests focus on how political and economic institutions shape social outcomes, particularly in contexts of inequality, state capacity, and public policy. She is especially interested in interdisciplinary and collaborative research that connects theory to real-world institutional challenges.
Research interests:
Political economy, public policy evaluation, institutional design, bureaucracy, immigration, resilience, and development economics.
Research projects:
In addition to Victórya Leal's work at PIRL, she is involved in research projects across different labs, including the Climate Resilience Lab and the Immigration and Bureaucracy Lab. Across these projects, she contributes to team-based research through data cleaning and organization, literature review, and empirical analysis, supporting ongoing work on institutional performance, policy implementation, and political behavior.
